Self smoothing or pumpable, levelling screed mixes are relatively thin compared with conventional screeds and should be used where the base has good surface regularity and where speed of laying and early drying are important. This type of screed is not generally suitable for laying services in. Fibre reinforced screeds contain polypropylene fibres which control shrinkage cracking and can be an alternative to steel fabric crack control reinforcement. However, steel fabric reinforcement may still be needed in strategic locations.
