Benefits of certification

Standards are vital to all industries. They reduce time; improve quality; permit compatibility and integration; improve value for money and enable trade. Certification of your BIM objects against the NBS BIM Object Standard provides reassurance to you and your customers that the benefits of standardisation can be achieved.

Every NBS certified BIM object has an accompanying certificate of compliance which gives you the peace of mind that comes from knowing that you can trust and value the data in the BIM objects you are using.

Benefits of certification

How are BIM objects certified?

BIM objects are authored by NBS to meet the requirements of the NBS BIM Object Standard. Where BIM objects are submitted to NBS by a manufacturer, our team of BIM experts will assess the objects against the criteria of the NBS BIM Object Standard and confirm compliance. A detailed report is issued to the manufacturer for any non-compliant BIM objects to enable their re-submission and inclusion within the NBS National BIM Library.

Certification is your guarantee of the quality and consistency of the BIM object. All compliant BIM objects on the NBS National BIM Library have their own certificate of compliance, and this can be accessed directly from within the BIM object.

What is the NBS BIM Object Standard?

The NBS BIM Object Standard defines the information, geometry, behaviour and presentation requirements of BIM objects. This standardisation gives designers a reassurance of the quality of BIM objects and enables greater collaboration and a more efficient information exchange across the construction industry.
