An energy efficient ductwork solution for HVAC applications offering premium thermal performance and reducing air leakage to a fraction of typical sheet metal ductwork. The system is comprised of rigid phenolic insulation panels with aluminium facings and includes fabrication methods, jointing systems and accessories.

 

Ductwork design and frictional resistance:

Kingspan KoolDuct rectangular ductwork, including fittings, follows the same calculation principles and duct sizing methods as are used for rectangular metal ductwork.

The frictional resistance is comparable with that of galvanized sheet steel ductwork.

Operational limits:

The recommended operational limits for ductwork fabricated from the Kingspan KoolDuct® System:

  • Mean air velocity (maximum): 25 m/s.
  • Design pressure (maximum): Positive: 1000 Pa, Negative: 750 Pa.
  • Internal air temperature: -20ºC to +80ºC during continuous operation.
  • Size: Unlimited (provided that recommended Kingspan KoolDuct® fabrication techniques and installation procedures are strictly observed)
  • Outdoor ductwork must be protected with a compatible weatherproof.

Kingspan KoolDuct panels are manufactured to the highest standards under a management system certified to:

  • BS EN ISO 9001: 2015 (Quality Management Systems. Requirements).
  • BS EN ISO 14001: 2015 (Environmental Management Systems. Requirements).
  • BS ISO 45001: 2018 (Occupational health and safety management systems) and
  • BS EN ISO 50001: 2018 (Energy management systems. Requirements with guidance for use).

 

Sustainability:

Manufactured with a blowing agent that has CFC-free and HCFC-free with zero ozone depleting potential (zero ODP) and a global warming potential (GWP) of ≤5.

BREEAM – ductwork fabricated from The Kingspan KoolDuct® System can contribute directly, and indirectly, toward the achievement of credits in the building rating system, BREEAM. The relevant credits are Ene1 – Reduction of energy use and carbon emissions Mat 1 – Life Cycle Impact, Mat 3 – Responsible sourcing of materials.
