High voltage distribution systems (1)

High voltage distribution systems consist of switchgear, transformers, cables, containment and accessories. There are two internationally recognized voltage levels (low voltage up to 1000 V a.c. or 1500 V d.c) and high voltage (i.e. voltages above the low voltage range). Commonly, the term high voltage is substituted with medium voltage; however medium voltage simply covers the lower end of the high voltage range i.e. up to 52 kV.
