Self smoothing or pumpable, levelling screed mixes are relatively thin compared with conventional screeds and should be used where the base has good surface regularity and where speed of laying and early drying are important. This type of screed is not generally suitable for laying services in. Self-smoothing screeds are flowing mortar screeds that are also self compacting and do not need trowelling. They are proprietary screeds typically laid by approved specialist contractors.
