Code of Conduct for manufacturers

The NBS National BIM Library is owned and operated by NBS Enterprises. NBS Enterprises Limited is committed to preserving the privacy of all visitors to its range of websites and services. This document sets out your responsibilities to legally and responsibly use the data we supply you.

We will only provide data to you when users of the NBS National BIM Library have given their consent for us to do so. This consent is normally given when signing up to the NBS National BIM Library.

We provide user data on the understanding that you will adhere to the principles and requirements laid out in relevant legislation, notably the Data Protection Act, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. The Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) provides a range of independent guidance on how best you can make sure your company is compliant with the legal requirements surrounding privacy.

Users of the NBS National BIM Library download BIM objects. These may be your manufacturer’s objects. In this case, when we have permission to do so, we will share the users’ information with you. The purpose of this is so that you can provide relevant support and information to NBS National BIM Library users. This support must be relevant to the type of enquiry initiated by the user, be restricted to the company or brand the object is associated with, and must take place within a reasonable time period.

Users of the NBS National BIM Library may also use its functionality to contact you. Where contact is initiated through the NBS National BIM Library, the contact must be managed in a way the user might reasonably expect, and which conforms to the principles of Data Protection. For example, where a technical enquiry is made, the information you provide must focus on the technical matter in hand, and not, for example, on identifying and exploiting broader sales opportunities.

Where a user of the NBS National BIM Library requests that you do not send them any further marketing material, it is your responsibility to make sure that their wishes are complied with.

We require that you do not copy, pass on, sell or publish the information we provide to you, without first getting our written permission. We also require that you do not seek to profit from the information provided, except as a consequence of the relevant marketing you carry out.

Where you do not follow this Code of Conduct, we reserve the right to stop providing you with customer information.
