BIM explained

BIM is much more than a 3D design

play What is BIM video

BIM is the future of construction

It is way of working, managing information in a team environment, enabling everyone to understand a building through the use of a digital model.

The digital model holds all the information needed to design, construct and maintain that building.

The level of detail

The level of detail in the model grows to reflect the building as it is being built and ultimately as it is used. This enables errors and clashes to be resolved in the early stages of the model, saving cost and increasing efficiency.

BIM is a Government requirement

The Government has stipulated that from 2016, all public construction projects must be built using BIM. This mandate calls for the adoption of Level 2 BIM within all parts of the design and build process.

BIM for the terrified

BIM for the terrified is a guide to Building Information Modelling.

Its aim is to provide a good understanding of BIM, explain how BIM has evolved over the years and reasons behind the Government's drive to adopt BIM.
